Description

The Laboratory Intern will primarily support the Quality Assurance (QA)  and Research and Development (R&D)  departments of the organization in performing laboratory analysis of fresh produce quality parameters.  In this part-time role,  the Laboratory Intern will gain valuable experience working in an analytical laboratory setting and operating cutting-edge scientific instrumentation for the agricultural industry.

Responsibilities

  • Perform laboratory analysis of fresh produce quality parameters
  • Own some experiments from data collection through electronic entry and subsequent analysis on a computer
  • Clean,  sterilize,  and maintain laboratory equipment
  • Organize and clean the laboratory space
  • Ensure compliance with safety rules and regulations
  • Monitor lab consumable inventory and ensure replacement orders are fulfilled

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in or completed a degree program in a relevant field such as biology,  chemistry,  or food science
  • A fast learner with an eye for detail
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to follow standard operating procedures accurately and consistently
  • Ability to sit or stand at a laboratory bench for extended periods of time
  • Familiarity with laboratory equipment and instruments
  • Experience in a laboratory setting is a plus
