Description

Corporate communications and public affairs intern will provide support to the Communications team at the Hanford Vit Plant in Richland,  WA,  in a variety of areas including business communications,  media and public relations,  social media,  executive communications,  issues management and crisis communications,  marketing and branding,  video production,  and graphic design. 

Responsibilities

Major Responsibilities:

  • Performs research,  writing,  and assists in the compilation or background information on specific public affairs issues
  • Assists in monitoring media articles as they affect business
  • Performs a variety of tasks,  including coordinating meetings and events,  writing news releases and regional media alerts,  developing articles for internal and external communications,  and updating social media outlets (e.g.  Facebook and Twitter)
  • Creates information products using graphic design
  • Responds to client inquiries and performs research for special assignments
  • Produces communication plans for internal and external initiatives
  • Demonstrates the character,  desire,  and commitment to work collaboratively with a team that prioritizes service to internal and external customers,  and ultimately,  achieving the overarching goals of the enterprise.

Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in a four-year bachelor’s degree program in Journalism,  Communications,  Public Relations,  Broadcasting,  Mass Communications or a related field from an accredited college or University
  • Completed at least two years of undergraduate studies
  • Possess the eligibility to work and remain in the U.S.  without sponsorship
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
  • Proficient in writing,  editing,  computer applications,  and operating systems
  • Proficient in AP Stylebook writing guidelines
