Description

Are you currently enrolled in a Communications,  Marketing,  Media,  or related program,  and love telling stories through video and photography?  Benton PUD is seeking a motivated,  creative student for our Summer 2026 Communications Internship,  with a strong emphasis on multimedia content creation.  This paid,  hands-on opportunity is perfect for someone who enjoys capturing moments,  editing visuals,  and bringing stories to life.

As a Communications Intern,  you’ll be mentored by our experienced Communications team while gaining real-world experience in a public power environment.  You’ll support utility-wide communication projects,  with a primary focus on creating engaging video and photo content that highlights our people,  our work,  and our connection to the community.  Along the way,  you’ll gain valuable insight into the electric utility industry and what it means to support public power.  If you’re ready to sharpen your skills and help tell Benton PUD’s story,  we’d love to have you on the team this summer!

This is a full-time,  non-exempt,  temporary position with an expected duration of 10–12 weeks during the summer.  Compensation will be based on qualifications,  including relevant coursework and prior experience.  Limited benefits are available,  and approved time off will be accommodated for planned summer activities.

The primary purpose of this position is to assist the Communications team with internal and external customer communication efforts,  with an emphasis on multimedia storytelling,  including:

  • Capture and create engaging photo and video content to communicate Benton PUD’s values,  mission,  and culture,  supporting employee engagement and community connection.
  • Edit and produce short-form videos and visual content for internal and external use (e.g.,  intranet,  communication monitors,  social media,  and presentations).
  • Create graphics/artwork and assist with content development for internal communications such as employee newsletters and the intranet.
  • Support community outreach and education efforts,  including event logistics (set up/take down)  and capturing event highlights through photography and video (e.g.,  Tri-Cities STEM Career Academy,  Benton Franklin County Fair/Parade).

  5. Creative communication and design qualities with strong technical verbal and writing skills for print and non-print marketing materials.
  6. Strong aptitude for researching and applying new equipment and technology.
  7. Interest and understanding in data analytics to help identify and visually display trends in online engagement,  insight,  and tracking of community events.
  8. Experience with graphic design programs (Adobe,  Canva,  or similar).
  9. Desire to provide excellent customer service.
