ANR Group Inc is recruiting students currently enrolled in Criminal Justice,  Sports Medicine/Fitness,  Education,  or other related degree types for a long-term internship opportunity with Hanford Mission Integration Solutions on the Hanford site in Richland,  WA.

This internship will support the Hanford Patrol Training Academy (PTA)  primarily supporting the training managers and staff,  Emergency Vehicle Operator Course (EVOC),  and Patrol Logistics.  As well as Facilities,  Fitness and Safety Programs and may include academic,  firearm and EVOC curricula as needed.  Intern will also support Patrol Operations on an as needed basis for records scanning support.

This internship is open to students with Freshman or Sophomore class standing that can be available for a year-round internship beginning on or after March 11,  2024.  Initially this internship is expected to last 6 months but may be extended.  This position requires a minimum of 25 hours per week during the school year,  but students can work up to 40 hours per week.  The schedule is Monday-  Thursday,  6 a.m.  to 4:30 p.m.  The hourly rate for this position is $21.55 per hour.

The Patrol Training Academy’s 8,000+  acre multi-purpose training facility features ten (10)  firing ranges with unique characteristics;  and is one of a kind in the Northwest.    The law enforcement campus is available to military,  federal,  state,  and local law enforcement and security personnel.  The Hanford Patrol,  Hanford’s protective force,  meets a wide variety of armed and unarmed personnel training needs both in the classroom and in the field.  Customers bring their own trainers or use the facility’s cadre of highly qualified training professionals.  Certified trainers in firearms,  tactics,  and driving are available.  The Hanford Patrol also has available armorers with experience in firearms maintenance and munitions management,  physical fitness trainers attuned to the special needs of law enforcement personnel,  safety personnel,  and range officers.

Responsibilities

Duties:

Position responsibilities will include the following:

  • Assist Patrol Logistics with accounting of equipment,  sensitive items,  and coordinating vehicle maintenance.  When applicable,  assist with preparation for any Basic Security Police Officer classes.  Ensure PTA vehicles are maintained and fueled in support of daily activities.
  • Assist the PTA with records/data entry to include thousands of daily entries.  Filing of records in personnel files and preparing records for Records Inventory and Disposition Schedule (RIDS).
  • Assist Operations with records,  scanning,  and other administrative functions.
  • When warranted,  assist Safety Representatives with Wet Bulb Globe Temperature (WBGT)  Monitoring at PTA Facilities and provide support during physical fitness activities.  Monitor and maintain safety during inclement weather utilized lighting and wind meters to help instructor staff stay within protocol.
  • Assist Fitness specialists,  monitor fitness facilities to help ensure safety and care for equipment.  Maintain area cleanliness.
  • Support the Firearms Instructors by ensuring training areas,  to include classrooms and ranges are prepared for daily occupation by students.  This includes ensuring the training area and props are maintained and safe to use and that needed items such as water and emergency medical kits are readily available for instructor use.  Assist/observe with classroom instruction.
  • When warranted,  assist in the coordination of training events and tours between PTA and HAMMER;  work with the maintenance shops to coordinate vehicle service repairs;  assist with the safe running of the 11 Hanford Patrol firing ranges;  provide operational readiness for the ranges (i.e.,  help set up targets and gear,  transport equipment and personnel).
  • Aid Instructors and Armorers with general weapons duties;  helps build weapons courses of fire;  assist with laundry and towel servicing,  housekeeping of the PTA facilities to include the weapons cleaning trailer and other structures.
  • If required,  participate in LSPTs,  exercises,  demonstrations,  and tours,  and performance testing;  help organize/inventory Patrol Storage Containers;  assist instructors with First Aid/CPR/AED and Bloodborne training classes which includes preparing training aids and lesson plans and handouts.
  • Provide computer operation and office machine support;  perform filing,  collating and copying functions and answer phone calls/perform receptionist duties at PTA main building;  and support disposition of curriculum materials,  resource manuals,  and other administrative documentation at the PTA for training delivery.
  • Must be proficient in various software programs,  i.e.,  Microsoft Office,  Outlook and have extended knowledge of Word,  Excel,  and Access.  IDMS and SharePoint experience preferred,  but not required.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • US Citizenship
  • Maintain a 2.5 GPA
  • Must be 18 years of age or older at the time of the internship.
  • Completed at least two quarters/semesters of college education prior to the internship.
  • Enrolled as a full-time student (12+  credit hours)  during the two quarters/semesters immediately preceding the start of the internship. **You may be required to submit an updated transcript prior to being considered for employment.
  • Must be able to operate various office machines,  fax,  computer systems,  scanners,  and multi-line phones.
  • Must possess current Washington State Drivers License
  • Have previous customer service experience
  • Must be proficient in various software programs,  i.e.,  Microsoft Office,  Outlook and have knowledge of Word,  Excel,  and Adobe.

Desired Qualifications:

  • IDMS and SharePoint experience preferred,  but not required.
