ANR Group Inc is recruiting students currently enrolled in Fire Protection Engineering or Fire Protection and Safety Engineering Technology or related degree program,  for a summer internship opportunity with Hanford Mission Integration Solutions on the Hanford site in Richland,  WA.

This internship is open to students with Junior class standing that can be available for a 12-to-14-week internship between May/June 2024 and September 30,  2024.  This position is a full-time,  40 hour per week internship.  The schedule is Monday-  Thursday,  6 a.m.  to 4:30 p.m.  The hourly rate for this position is $25.98 per hour.

Responsibilities

This position will be responsible for witnessing hydrant flow tests and maintaining hydrant database,  assisting with conducting building inspections/assessments,  assisting with engineering drawing and submittal reviews.   Develop draft fire marshal permits.  Have a questioning attitude.  Ability to take direction and perform other fire protection duties as assigned commensurate with experience.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • US Citizenship
  • Maintain a 2.5 GPA or higher.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older at the time of the internship.
  • A recent high school graduate,  enrolled in college or university classes for Fall 2024,  or college students,  enrolled fulltime (12+  credit hours)  that have completed at least two quarters/semesters of college education prior to the internship.
  • Proficient with Microsoft products,
  • Awareness of NFPA codes and standards.
  • Able to obtain knowledge of Department of Energy Orders and Standards.
  • Concept of fire protection systems,  their design and operation.
  • Awareness of field conditions and willingness to document and bring issues forward.
  • Able to produce technical documents.
  • Verbal and written communication skills.
  • Awareness of basic safety concepts.

Desired Qualifications:

Understanding of NFPA codes and standards,  principles,  practices and techniques.  Understanding of fire protection systems,  their design and operation.  Ability to learn on the job.
