Our Business Operations team is seeking a driven student who has the desire to gain valuable,  real-world experience related to finance and accounting.

•  Strong verbal and written communication skills,  and ability to effectively interact with and convey information to company personnel and management.
•  Ability to work independently and in a team environment with attention to detail.
•  Motivated to learn,  have a questioning attitude,  and be forward thinking.
•  Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word,  and more importantly Excel).

Starting hourly rate ranges from $19.20 to $28.80,  depending on academic standing (sophomore,  junior,  senior,  or graduate)  and degree discipline.

In accordance with the Service Contract Act,  this position is also eligible for the health &  welfare wage adder of up to $4.41 per hour.

Responsibilities

The Business Operations Co-Op Business:  Accounting &  Finance position duties may include,  but are not limited to the following:
•   Provide a broad range of finance and accounting related support to the department working within established procedures and desk guide.
•   Learn about the day-to-day activities associated with the CPCCo Accountant and Financial Analyst position.
•   Gain an understanding of journal entry process for various accounting systems. 
•   Assist with monthly reconciliations of general ledger accounts.
•   Assist with obtaining and analyzing cost detail backup.
•   Gain an understanding of floor check procedure and assist with performing employee floor checks.
•   Assist with maintenance of various SharePoint and Excel databases.
•   Develop a working knowledge of the following:  Asset Suite,  PowerBI,  the Business Management System (BMS),  and MS Excel.
•  Gain an understanding of applicability of Cost Accounting Standards (CAS),  Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP),  Federal Acquisitions Regulations (FAR),  Federal Travel Regulations (FTR).

Qualifications

•  At least 18 years of age.
•  Willing and able to work 20-32 hours a week.
•  Currently pursuing a degree in:  Accounting,  Finance,  or similar discipline.
•  Currently enrolled with either WSU-Tri-Cities campus or Columbia Basin College (CBC),  or any online student living local to the Tri-Cities,  WA.
•  At a sophomore,  junior,  senior,  or graduate status and enrolled full-time,  as determined by the institution.
•  Maintain an overall GPA 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale)  or greater throughout academic career.
•  Actively enrolled in a full-time degree program that relates to CPCCo,  with emphasis in specific disciplines that support the cleanup mission and aligns with the critical skills and job assignment requirements.
