Description

The ESG Intern will provide support to the Director of ESG to the attain of short-  and long-term goals related to Holland’s Environmental,  Social,  and Governance (ESG)  Sustainability and Resiliency initiatives.  An internship within our ESG team will allow the incumbent to work with the Holland team to build procedures and compile data critical to making sound decisions.  Using advanced technology,  Holland is focused on establishing the right controls,  processes and structures for clients to ensure that decisions are based on accurate and complete information.

Responsibilities

  • Assist project managers in identifying energy,  water and waste reduction strategies on assigned projects.
  • Compile and maintain critical data to support ESG strategy and decision making and support sustainability certification efforts (e.g.,  LEED,  WELL,  Fitwel,  Net Zero Energy).
  • Assist with renewable energy analysis and carbon neutral building assessments.
  • Assist in the development of strategic and technical recommendations for projects.
  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative research using external ESG data.
  • Facilitate conversations between stakeholders to assist in devising sustainability strategies.
  • Produce high quality,  visually compelling presentations and deliverables.
  • Assist Residential Property Management team with tenant engagement related to energy reduction strategies in collaboration with Energy Trust of Oregon.
  • Develop and maintain productive working relationships with team and company personnel.
  • Initiate meetings and communications to keep supervisor informed of project status and progress.
  • Represent Holland Partner Group in a professional manner at all times.
  • Conform to company apparel standards and set a positive example for all employees.

Qualifications

Education: Current enrollment in an accredited Bachelors,  Masters or PhD program focused on Green Building Design,  Architecture,  Engineering,  Sustainability Management or related field required.

Experience: Demonstrated interest in Green Building Design,  Engineering,  Sustainability Management,  or related field and have a strong desire to advance skills related to Holland Partner Groups work and projects.  Previous experience in an administrative or data collection/analysis role preferred.

Knowledge,  Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Ability to effectively present ideas,  projects and solutions to clients and executives in a polished,  professional manner.
  • Proficient self-leadership with keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks in a dynamic work environment.
  • Ability to work independently,  as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.
  • Proficient in MS Suite,  specifically MS Word and MS Excel keep spreadsheet,  technology tools.
  • Proficient in technical writing.

Attendance: This full-time position requires regular and punctual attendance compliant with the schedule set to meet company needs.   Additional hours or overtime may be required. 

Working Environment: Hybrid position to mitigate and reduce the carbon footprint.  On-site work is primarily in an office environment or variety of active residential properties.  May review field locations that involve hazardous construction environment requiring protective equipment that conforms to OSHA regulations and some physical discomfort due to temperature,  dust and noise.

This position also requires:

  • Ability to lift or move up to 20 pounds.
  • Hearing and visual ability to observe and detect signs of emergency situations.
  • Fluency in English both verbally and non-verbally.
