Responsibilities

Teacher Position Summary:
The Teacher is responsible for planning and providing programs and activities which stimulate emotional,  social,  physical,  and intellectual growth to children in a group setting.  This is a professional level position operating independently with a minimum of supervision and requires independent decision making and the use of discretion and good judgement relating to a variety of routine and non-routine child care situations and circumstances.  This position requires an in depth understanding of the growth,  development,  and needs of children.  Major decisions are subject to review and approval of the Director.  Internal contacts are basically within the work group.  External contacts include children,  parents,  and families of New Adventures.

Teacher Assistant Position Summary:
The Teacher Assistant is responsible for assisting in the general supervision and management of a class of children.  This is an intermediate level Child Care position which works under the direction of the classroom Teacher.  This position requires a clear understanding of the growth,  development,  and needs of children.  Internal contacts are primarily within the work group.  External contacts include parents and families of children.

Teacher Aide Position Summary:
The Teacher Aide is responsible for assisting in the general supervision and management of a class of children.  Be actively engaged with children and ensuring their safety at all times.  This is an entry-level position working under the direction of the Teacher and/or Teacher Assistant.  This position requires an understanding of the growth,  development,  and needs of children.  Be actively engaged with children and ensuring their safety at all times.  Internal contacts are within the work group.  External contacts include parents/families of children of and are general in nature.
Note:  This is an on call position.

Qualifications

Teacher Minimum Requirements &  Education/Licenses/Certifications:

  • Direct experience working with or teaching children
  • Direct experience in planning and implementing programs for a class of children
  • Consideration may be given to internal candidates not meeting the minimum qualifications
  • Internal candidates not meeting minimum qualifications will have 2 year to meet standard.
  • Minimum of twenty one years of age
  • Early Childhood Education State Certificate or equivalent
  • Meets WA State requirements to work in a licensed child care facility
  • Must have these certifications within 90-days of hire:  First Aid,  CPR,  and Food Handling certification

Teacher’s Assistant Minimum Requirements &  Education/Licenses/  Certifications:

  • Direct experience working with children.
  • Consideration may be given to internal candidates not meeting the minimum qualifications
  • Internal candidates not meeting minimum qualifications will have 1 year to meet standard.
  • Meets WA State requirements to work in a licensed child care facility
  • Early Childhood Education Initial Certificate or equivalent
  • Must have these certifications within 90-days of hire:  First Aid,  CPR,  and Food Handling certification

Teacher’s Aide Minimum Requirements &  Education/Licenses/Certifications:

  • Previous experience working with children preferred
  • Minimum of eighteen (18)  years of age.
  • Understanding of Washington State Administrative Code
  • Understanding of Early Achievers
  • Understanding of Washington State Administrative Code and understanding of Early Achievers a plus
  • High School graduate or equivalent preferred
  • Have or willing to obtain education or training in Early Childhood education
  • Must have these certifications within 90-days of hire:  First Aid,  CPR,  and Food Handling certification
  • Minimum of eighteen (18)  years of age
  • Meets WA State requirements to work in a licensed child care facility.
