Description

This internship is open to Juniors,  Seniors,  and Graduates in Civil/Structural Engineering,  Electrical Engineering,  Mechanical Engineering,  Nuclear Engineering,  and Construction Management.

The selected candidate will be a productive member of project personnel in the performance of the delivering the following deliverables: 
•  Prepare and obtain approval of Statements of Work (SOW)  for construction and vendor supply contracts. 
•  Conduct field walk downs with Subject Matter Experts and Contractor(s)  to resolve technical issues. 
•  Using Asset Suites prepare requisition,  contract change requests and payment approvals. 
•  Using the Document Management Control System,  perform submittal reviews and approvals. 
•  Review and understanding Design Drawings,  Specifications,  Functional Requirements and Calculations. 
•  This position will require the intern to be on site full time.  (No telework available/  required) 
Interface with facility Design Authorities on design changes. 
•  Issue contract changes,  including compilation of back-up documentation,  fair cost estimates,  perform technical evaluations,  and assist the Contract Specialist in contract-related negotiations.


*Weekly Activities Report –  The Contractor shall provide Buyer with a Weekly Activities Report identifying detailed work activities performed for the week/day:  by name/hours worked and company and,  if applicable,  any detailed problems or issues in completing assigned work.  Weekly Activities Reports shall be submitted to the BTR by COB of the last workday of each week documenting the previous week’s activities.  Additionally,  the Weekly Activities Reports will be submitted as an attachment to each invoice.  Submission of Weekly Activities Reports is required until the contract work is completed.  A Weekly Activity Report will be submitted on weeks where no work has been done.

Site Conditions and Known Hazards:

 Some site conditions and/or known hazards may include general radiation,  chemical hazards,  and industrial hazards that may require a medical qualification/surveillance for respirator use,  noise,  heat stress,  HAZWOPER,  Beryllium,  and Facility Specific Hazards Training.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:


  • Must either have completed or be working towards a Bachelor of Science in Engineering,  Construction Management,  or a dual Engineering /  Construction Management degree. 
    •  Able to work at a construction work site,  which will include routine field work support and involvement. 
    •  Proficiency with Microsoft Office,  Adobe Acrobat Pro. 
    •  Sound written communication skills. 
    •  US Citizen
    •  At least 18 years of age
    •  Maintain a 2.5 GPA
    •  Enrolled as a full-time students during the two quarters/semesters immediately preceding the start of the internship.
