Description

This is an unpaid,  part-time AmeriCorps term of service with YouthBuild.  YouthBuild Spokane is a program funded through the Department of Labor.  The goals are to help 18-24 year-old youth obtain a GED;  develop work-readiness skills;  and transition to post-secondary school,  an apprenticeship,  or a job.  A typical day could involve tutoring YouthBuild participants (one-on-one and small group).   We are in-oerson program.

This part-time term of 300 hours with an education award upon successful completing.  The $1300 education award can be used for tuition and student loans.

Responsibilities

1-Attend all Spokane Service Team trainings and AmeriCorps national days of service.

2-Maintain accurate and timely reports and timecards.

3-Maintain confidentiality as a member of a team of professionals.

4-Uphold the highest level of work ethic standards as the designated role model for success in the workplace.

5-Develop positive personal relationships with participants and help them to make and achieve personal goals.

6-Respect and honor diversity and exhibit positive communication to all participants.  7-Tutor students in the GED classroom in all fields,  as well as healthcare.

8-Assist participants in creating resumes,  cover letters,  and on-line portfolios.

9-Assist volunteer coordinator in developing service projects.

10-Facilitate YouthBuild members as they complete a civic engagement service project.

11-  Assist YouthBuild and AmeriCorps staff to meet deadlines.
